There is more to living in Gainesville then the University of Florida??

There are tons of nature parks and historic sites to tour. Spend the day getting lost in the history of Central Florida or picnic outside while enjoying the beautiful landscape. One thing is for sure there is always something new to see and experience.

*Devil's Millhopper - This large sinkhole is 120 feet deep and 500 feet on diameter. Many species of plant-life and wild life can be explored from the boardwalks and nature trail that follows the rim.

*PaynesPrairieState Preserve - Paynes Prairie is a 21,000 acre state preserve and wildlife sanctuary with provisions for bird watching, fishing, bike riding, and hiking, horseback riding, and boating.

*Kanapaha Botanical Gardens - A 62 acre facility that offers one of the largest public displays of bamboo stands and herb gardens in the Southeast.

*Gainesville-Hawthorne State Trail - The abandoned railway line turned recreational trail stretches 16 miles from Gainesville's BoulwareSpringsPark through Paynes Prairie and the Lochloosa Wildlife Management Area. Perfect for hiking, cycling, and leisurely strolls.

*San Felasco Hammock State Preserve - Dotted with sinkholes, steep headsprings, ponds, and small lakes, this 6,900 acre state preserve stands as one of the finest examples of historic hammocks remaining in Florida.
